Drishti

Bringing Vision to Every Eye

Elderly HealthCommunityScreeningTreatmentOutreach
An optometrist operates an eye-testing machine while an older woman in a teal saree rests her chin on it for an eye screening.

Drishti is the Trust's eye-care program. Ophthalmology camps screen people for common causes of poor vision, free cataract surgeries are arranged for those who need them, and spectacles are distributed to people who could not otherwise afford them. The Trust also observed National Eye Donation Fortnight in 2023 and uses a portable fundus-on-phone device to detect diabetic retinopathy early.

By 2026 Drishti had supported more than 350 free cataract operations and distributed over 1,000 pairs of spectacles.

How it works

  1. Eye campAn ophthalmology team holds a screening camp in a village or ward, checking vision and examining for cataract and retinal disease.
  2. Spectacles on the spotPeople with refractive errors receive spectacles at the camp.
  3. Surgery for cataractPatients with cataract are scheduled for free surgery at the affiliate hospitals and followed up afterwards.
