Parivarthana
Transforming Lives Through Early Detection and Awareness

Parivarthana takes screening for non-communicable diseases to the doorstep. Trained healthcare workers visit every household in Kakkargolla, Arasapura and the urban slums of Davangere and check adults over 30 for risk factors of diabetes and hypertension, using blood pressure monitors, glucometers and validated risk-assessment questionnaires.
Screening alone changes little, so the program pairs it with counselling and medication-adherence support. People found to have pre-diabetes or hypertension sit with trained resident doctors for personalised guidance on diet, physical activity, quitting tobacco and managing stress. Those who need treatment are linked to care.
By February 2024 more than 60% of the adult population of Kakkargolla and Arasapura had been reached, which is why the two villages are counted as the Trust's model health villages. The program has also become a testbed for the Trust's research: using GIS mapping to plan NCD services in slums, tele-ECG for cardiac screening in places without a cardiologist, and cardiovascular risk assessment among people with type 2 diabetes.
