Our story
SS Care Trust was founded with a vision of health empowerment through knowledge and care.
SS Care Trust was founded with a vision of health empowerment through knowledge and care. Based in Davangere, Karnataka, the Trust works to improve access to preventive and comprehensive healthcare for underserved communities across Davangere and surrounding areas of Central Karnataka.
Established in 2019, it takes preventive, promotive and curative healthcare to people who would otherwise go without it: free screening for cancer, diabetes and hypertension, free haemodialysis, mobile health camps, school dental and nutrition programs, and training that turns teachers, ASHAs and women's groups into first responders. Its focus is on women and children, and on the economically backward sections of society.
The Trust is not a hospital. It is the community-health outreach arm of the Bapuji Educational Association's medical, dental, engineering, management and law institutions, which supply its doctors, students, clinical back-up and treatment capacity. That combination lets a district trust do unusual things: screen women for breast cancer with an AI thermal imaging device, run tele-ECG camps in villages without a cardiologist, and present its findings at national and international public-health conferences.
Since 2019, SS Care Trust has expanded community health initiatives through partnerships with hospitals, medical institutions, educational institutions and local communities, addressing prevention, early detection, treatment support, awareness and community empowerment.
The Trust was founded in 2019 by Late Dr. Shamanuru Shivashankarappa with the idea of health empowerment through knowledge and care, and began with Spandana: breast cancer awareness and a screening centre at SS General Hospital opened with Niramai Health Analytix. A free haemodialysis centre followed in 2021 with four machines, alongside a mass free COVID-19 vaccination drive that reached more than 50,000 people.
2022 brought Sukshema for children's anaemia and malnutrition, the continuum of care for pregnant women, cervical screening, Parivarthana's house-to-house NCD screening, PULSE tele-ECG camps, Sneha Shibira for children living with HIV, Jeeva Rakshana first-aid training and Kaushalya skills days. In 2023 the dialysis centre grew to 12 units, Mugulnage and Pratigna started in schools and colleges, the Health-on-Wheels bus was launched and community health volunteers began work in three gram panchayats. The 2019–2024 impact book was published in February 2024. Since then the dialysis centre has grown to 16 units, HPV vaccination, Arogyada Arivu, Sampoorna Swasthya, Kaushalya 2.0, Sanjeevini and Sankalpa have joined the roster, and the Trust now runs 18 programs across all six talukas of Davangere district.

Our vision
To create healthier and more empowered communities where every individual has access to quality, affordable and compassionate healthcare, regardless of social or economic circumstances.
By focusing on preventive, promotive and curative measures for the economically backward sections of society, with early interventions and community engagement, the Trust aims to foster a healthier society that prioritises the well-being of its most vulnerable members, with a special focus on women and children. Its vision encompasses raising awareness about preventive measures, healthy lifestyles and the importance of regular check-ups through educational campaigns, community outreach programs and collaboration with healthcare professionals and communities. The Trust aims to become a dependable organisation in Karnataka for providing accessible, high-quality services for all.
Our mission
To provide accessible, affordable and compassionate healthcare through prevention, early detection, timely treatment, health awareness and community-based programmes, with a focus on underserved and vulnerable communities.
This reaches the families of Davangere and central Karnataka through screening for cancer and non-communicable diseases where people live, free dialysis for those who cannot pay, nutrition and dental care for children, health education through the groups people already belong to, and training that equips communities to respond to emergencies themselves, all delivered with the clinical backing of the Bapuji institutions and with dignity for every beneficiary.
