Mugulnage — Miles for Smiles — is the Trust's school oral health program for primary school children. It exists because early oral health habits and awareness about dental hygiene are easiest to build when children are young, and because dental problems found early are far simpler to treat.
Dental teams screen children in their own schools, identify problems and arrange prompt intervention so that small issues do not become long-term complications. The program goes beyond screening: it includes preventive treatments and awareness sessions on the lifestyle factors that shape oral health, such as diet, daily hygiene routines and regular dental check-ups.
Since it began in August 2023, Mugulnage has run more than 110 school programs, screened over 11,400 primary school children and supported more than 2,500 of them with advanced treatment through the affiliate dental colleges.
