Kaushalya brings rural school children onto professional campuses for a day. At the Bapuji B-School they spend a full day, from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening, learning leadership skills through interactive sessions: communication, teamwork, decision-making and problem-solving.
In a companion program the same students spend a day at the Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology (BIET) to gain a basic grounding in computer skills, which are now indispensable in almost every part of life. Legal awareness sessions for adolescent students complete the set.
The benefits do not stop with the individual. Students who return to their villages with computer knowledge pass it on, helping to bridge the digital divide. More than 1,200 teenagers from 8 villages in Davangere taluk have been trained so far.
